Webinar – Mapping the baseline exposure and risk of extreme climate impacts on coastal cities

This webinar is the 8th episode in the SCORE webinar series!

SCORE Webinar #8 – Mapping the baseline exposure and risk of extreme climate impacts on coastal cities

Description

In the SCORE project, we aim to mitigate the impacts of sea-level rise and climate change in ten European coastal cities. This will be achieved through co-design and co-development with citizens and stakeholders. Our approach includes deploying, testing, and demonstrating innovative Ecosystem-Based Approaches, smart technologies, and hybrid Nature-Based Solutions. To successfully implement these strategies, we require extensive information on climate-related hazards.

In this webinar we will introduce the methodology that we have developed to assess risks at a high level for the Coastal City Living Labs (CCLLs), marking the beginning of further studies within the project. The assessment is grounded in a participatory process involving SCORE partners. Experts from SCORE will detail the main objectives of the assessment and the challenges that it aims to address within the framework of the project. They will also discuss the methodological principles applied, the comprehensive process of conducting a literature review, and the steps taken to identify and categorize key climate-related hazards. Additionally, the development of exposure and vulnerability indicators and the culmination of this process in a high-level risk assessment will be presented.
