SCORE gathers in Alicante for its 2nd in-person consortium meeting

The second SCORE in-person consortium meeting took place on 14-16 June 2023 hosted by SCORE partner, Universidad de Alicante (UA), in Spain.

Over 60 partners from all institutions and Coastal City Living Labs (CCLL) involved in the project attended the meeting in-person, with a few additional participants attending online.

After an opening speech by the Vice chancellor for infrastructures of the University of Alicante, partners presented the progress achieved within each work package and task (ICT platform, climate models, citizen-science sensors, community geosurveys, etc.) as well as some important points to be tackled over the next months, in particular to address the comments received by the external reviewers during the first review meeting earlier this year. The presentations clearly demonstrated that the project is progressing well and many news tools and resources will made available in the coming months. Two members of the SCORE’s External Advisory Board were present, on-site and online, and provided valuable feedback and suggestions in relation to some of the activities presented by work package leaders.

Interactive sessions were organised on CCLLs knowledge exchange, co-creation and stakeholder engagement to find synergies, address the problems and challenges faced, and share experience gained during the process. Technical meetings took place among partners involved in technical tasks to exchange views and find solutions to the challenges faced in the past months.

In addition to the many interesting discussions and sessions, partner interviews were also recorded to present the ongoing activities and stakeholder engagement in some of the CCLLs. These short videos will be disseminated on social media over the next few months. After the meeting, partners had the pleasure to join a nice bus tour to visit the city and learn more from our local partner about the erosion of the beaches on the coast of Alicante.

At the end of these 3-days, the partners all expressed their renewed commitment and motivation to carry out all the project’s activities and reach its goals. The next face-to-face meeting will take place in June 2024 in Gdansk, Poland.
