In Pisa, for the European Researchersā€™ Night, Bright Night 2022 took place on a complicated day due to bad weather conditions. Despite this, the event was a success, with about 450 young students who were welcomed in the university to take part in small experiments, laboratories, and scientific games; 500 people who signed up for the “Walks with Science” events following the researchers along the paths in the city to discover stories, curiosities and anecdotes; hundreds of citizens and children who visited the five “Research Squares”.
The SCORE stand was set up by UNIPI’s Department of Information Engineering (DII) in cooperation with MBI. Younger and older visitors alike greatly enjoyed the educational activity named “Marinacraft“, especially built for this event by the UCD team with Minecraft Java edition. The game was set in Marina di Pisa (a nice sea resort near Pisa) and the goal consisted in selecting and building one nature-based solution (NBS) to counteract the coastal erosion phenomenon. Upon the nature-based solution completion, each participant was awarded Ā a diploma which appointed them as a “one-night” Researcher.
