A group of researchers from the SCORE project at University College Dublin worked with young people and their families to help design and create an alternative and sustainable future for Dun Laoghaire in Dublin, Ireland.
On Saturday, 11 June, as part of the UCD Festival 2022, researchers were interested in finding ways for communities to have an active role in how we plan for the future.
Using the game Minecraft, gaming experts and newbies alike were asked to come up with ways to help people adapt to the effects of climate change and design solutions for the future in a digital recreation of the coastal suburb of Dun Laoghaire. Designs focused on nature-based solutions like reimagined green spaces, public parks, and enhancing biodiversity.
